The JOA collection is a fine example of product development. After several sketches and mock-ups, the first versions were not convincing. A few weeks' break allowed us to take a fresh look and evolve towards the final version.
JOA pieces are designed to be admired from every angle. They can be placed in the center of a room to become a focal point, or leaning against a wall for a more traditional arrangement. With straight, clean-lined sides and a soft, rounded seat, the collection combines rigor and comfort with elegance.
Materials
Kirby Design's Spiral fabric upholstery reflects the avant-garde nature of this collection. Made entirely from recycled materials, this thick weave is distinguished by its multicolored yarns and innovative shades, such as Monochrome and Ochre. This bold choice gives JOA's pieces a unique personality, while at the same time embodying a responsible and sustainable approach.
The sofa is medium-firm with high-quality foam.
Manufacturing
The wooden substructure of JOA pieces is made by Maison Wider SA in Montreux, where Michaël Martins discovered the world of fabrics and leathers while working on window displays for the watchmaking industry. This experience awakened his interest in the infinite possibilities offered by these materials in product design and development.
The upholstery is entrusted to Arcadeco SA in Bex, a workshop renowned for its exceptional quality and discreet work with prestigious brands. This partnership with Wider SA and Arcadeco SA embodies a collaboration founded on excellence and trust, an essential pillar of the JOA manufacturing process.
