The ZLA collection, comprising a table, a bench and a banquette with a clean, rigorous design, embodies a timeless aesthetic where simplicity and functionality meet. Oak and steel, symbolizing strength and resistance, come together here to form an ensemble that adapts to any interior style, to the point of becoming its central element thanks to its minimalist design.
These three pieces, created at the end of his studies in 2013, are Michaël Martins' first creations in their own right. Having lived its first life in the carnotzet of the family home, becoming the heart of warm meals and shared memories, this set now adorns its creator's living room; embodying here his desire to take his creations across generations.
Materials
The solid oak wood used in its manufacture, with its knots and medullary rays, celebrates the raw, unique beauty of the material. These details, far from being defects, tell the story of this raw material and reflect the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which values imperfection and impermanence as sources of beauty. Application of the matte varnish offers a soft touch.
Powder-coated steel in RAL 7022 (Umbra Grey) blends perfectly with oak, each material enhancing the other.
Manufacturing
The ZLA collection is manufactured in Dieterswil, in the workshops of Schneider Innenausbau AG, where Michaël completed a 9-month internship, before returning to work there for a year and a half. It was a memorable experience, both on a human and professional level, and an opportunity for him to learn Swiss German.
